i have a two and a half year old golden retriever and i been noticing even when she is on flea medication like the advantage she still itches i know its not hot spots because she has no red patches but looking at her skin i noticed tiny red bumps and very dry skin when i took her to the vet she suggested omega 3 fatty acids which i brought salmon oil and salmon puffs but she was still itching and her coat is very thinning not full like a golden should be . I changed her food from science diet for the large breed to royal canine for golden retrievers but i think she has a food allergy from corn and wheat which are two ingredients in her royal canine .I know at one to three food allergies commonly affect goldens so my question is does anyone know the ingredients that are supposed to be in a hypoallergenic food and any good food for dogs that have allergies . i work at petsmart so any food you might name expensive or not i can find it and i get a discount so price doesn’t matter thanks .

Both of my dogs tend to vomit, vets say there is nothing wrong with them, but I have heard changing their dog food to one for sensitive stomachs may help. Do you have any advice?
Neither of my dogs eat fast or too much. Both are very healthy weight wise. Female Husky 50 pounds and Male Pekingese is 14 pounds.
They were eating a holistic dog food but they stopped around the time of the pet food recall. They just wouldn’t eat it anymore. So we switched them to Iams.

Recently the commercial dog food industry has come under a lot of criticism in regard to the quality of food they offer. The year 2007 marked a time when a wide variety of dog food brands were discovered to contain at least three different poisonous ingredients which caused a huge pet food recall. During that recall, many families found out that their beloved pet had become seriously ill while others suffered with the death of their furry best friend.

During the latter part of 2011 and early 2012, more dog foods including so-called premium brands like Iams have had recalls after discovering excessive amounts of aflatoxin in the commercial food. Liver cancer is known to be a possibility after consumption of fungi like aflatoxin.

The situation has caused many pet owners to question the quality and control of commercial pet food makers. Could a raw meat diet for dogs be the answer, many pet owners are wondering.

Of course, the commercial pet food industry is completely against this. Billions of dollars are involved for the pet food makers, and reduced profits is the last thing they want. Some of these companies like Purina are posting warnings on their website about the “dangers” of a raw meat diet.

However, pet owners who have switched to feeding a diet closer to what their pet’s ancestors would have eaten are pointing to some major benefits. These benefits for their pets include:

Improved coat and skin, sometimes with skin issues completely disappearing

Cleaner and pearly white teeth

Fewer allergic reactions

These are but a few of the benefits. Dog food makers seem to be on a mission to suggest that there is no real evidence to support the claims made by those who have switched their dogs diet. One of the risks, according to them is of bacterial infection and contamination of raw meat.

While it is true that the evidence is mostly anectodatal, those of us who are nervous about what is going into commercial pet foods have nothing else to go by. The commercial pet food companies are certainly not going to fund any studies to “prove” that their foods are better than the natural food that canines have been eating for a millenia.

Feeding your dog a raw meat diet is not that difficult. And when you think about it, the risks of contamination in raw are probably much lower than the risk of contamination in commercial pet food.

Another issue is the manner in which commercial foods are labelled, wanting us to believe that the primary ingredient in their food is meat. This is not true – it may be the first ingredient listed, but most of the time, the weight of total grains is far higher than the weight of the meat in kibble.

Meayt bones that are raw are an important part of a raw diet for dogs. Canines in the wild chew on and eat bone material; it contains vitamins and minerals that the actual meat does not have. We’ve been told many times that bones are a choking and splintering hazard – but this is only true when the bones are cooked. Bone composition changes when they are cooked; this is when they become more brittle and cause problems for pets eating them. Raw bones on the other hand are more easily
digested. Clean white teeth with no tartar is another perk of feeding raw bones.

Although some veterinarians will also give warnings about feeding raw (remember though, they are sponsored by the big pet food companies), it’s been admitted that they really don’t have that much nutritional training and those who feed raw seem to have less vet visits needed!

Learn some of these fantastic homemade dog treats for your pet get your slippers every time you get home. Okay so maybe that’s exaggerated, but these tasty treats will definitely be a hit on a beloved dogs. The best part about it is, they are quite simple. Here are some excellent dog food recipes you can try at home today.
I do not know if you know this, but puppies just love the taste of peanut butter. I am often amazed with the many intricacies of the baking world, but this recipe is foolproof, even for me. Combine ½ cup
a wholemeal flour, 1 ½ cups all purpose flour, I cup milk, two tablespoons of honey and 2Tbsps of the oil with ½ cup soft and creamy peanut butter. Mix well and spoon the mixture into bite-sized treats on cookie sheets. Bake for 20 minutes at 350? F and you have yourself the keys to the Fido’s heart.
How about a delicious oatmeal chews? Combine ½ cup whole wheat flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder and 3 cups oatmeal and 2 tablespoons honey. Add in 2 egg yolks and one cup of cold water, make sure the batter is smooth with no lumps in it. Bake for 15 minutes at 350? F. Cool treats and cut them into the cookie and bag sizes can feed your pet at any time.
older dogs with a less than solid teeth, then you serve them these soft cookies and snacks. In a bowl, mix ¼ cup dry milk powder ¼ cup wheat germ and 2 ½ ounces of flavored baby food jars thoroughly. Role in mint big hills and bake in a pre-heated oven for 15 minutes at 350? F. After cooling can act as a snack, or fridge for later use. We cringe when we
the liver in our plate, but this is actually a big party for dogs. It is economical and very easy to make. All you have to do is to one pound liver (beef and mashed), easy to combine with 2 cups cornmeal, one cup flour and 1 / 3 teaspoon salt. Roll out on a greased baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes at 350? F. When done and cooled enough, cut into small squares for a quick snack.
If you know how to bake, you can switch to a number of ingredients to make it interesting for your pet. Use apples, carrots, parsley or other pieces of meat. Make sure when you come with your own dog food recipes that you research the foods harmful to dogs. Some of these are chocolate, onions, grapes and most nuts. Too much liver is harmful to them. Great homemade dog biscuits
are not complicated when you thought it was? It’s mostly just putting together some ingredients and bake until fit to be eaten. Now you are armed with various mouth watering doggie treats, there’s no excuse not to a loving and happy pet is ready to welcome you home to have.
Geraldine Dimarco is a writer of numerous dog food recipes that many pet owners swear by.

Pet food companies have some of the funniest commercials I’ve ever seen.
I watched an old commercial bits and pieces and I could not help but smile the whole way through. Unfortunately, that business had nothing to do with the food, but everything to do with the cuteness of dogs noses.
So then if these commercials have nothing to do with the food we can not rely on them to provide us with the best and healthiest choice of food for our dog.
I know many people who go to the local department store and buy the cheapest dog food they can find. These people are not even reading the labels on pet food. They have no idea what the ingredients are, but they believe that because it says ‘pet food’ on the outside is good enough for their dogs.
I do not understand those people, some were good friends. Their only argument they have when I tell them their dog food is not so good for their dog, “it’s just a dog”.
Then there are other people who see their dog as an actual living creature who must proper nutrition to stay alive. These people tend to make them the best for their dog to think that by listening to advice from their veterinarian, the pet shops advice, or even those cute commercials that they sucked.
Unfortunately, the veterinarian, pet, and commercials are not always right. Many of these foods, your pet healthy. In fact many of these foods do not offer very good food for your dog at all. But you can not understand unless you read the ingredients and understand what they are and what they do for your pet.
are also the people who read the ingredients when choosing a dog food. Some people know what these ingredients are and what they mean, but there are some people who know what most of the ingredients, but they do not understand what their dog to offer in the way of nutrition.
example, corn is a major ingredient in many dog but give your pet real corn diet or is it only but a filler that is used for the pet business to save money?
The first ingredient is the largest part of your pet dog. Is the first ingredient on corn or meat? What do you think your dog needs more logical?
Sometimes the information is correct in the open air, but because we are not looking for it we do not take into our consideration. We expect these companies to be forthright and tell us exactly what’s in the bag by writing the on the bag.
The next piece of information is taken directly from the fda.gov site in the animal and veterinary news and events section.
The low sodium pentobarbital that dogs might receive through their food are probably not health problems, according to an FDA study.
pentobarbital paralysis is a drug used for dogs and other animals such as horses and cattle. For it is widely used for humane euthanasia of dogs, cats and other animals, the most likely way that pentobarbital could get into dog food would be rendered animal products. Rendered products come from a process that converts animal tissues to feed. “
This is just one of many things you may or may not be aware of. Crazy anyway?
So start your research on dog food and encourage others to do the same. Our pets suffer more disease than ever and it’s time we put our foot down and start taking action when it comes to their diet .
There are tons of information out there to help you make the decision about the best foods to feed your dog.
a place to help you choose the safest and healthiest dog food for your dog someone with 18 years worth of research behind her Dog Food Dangers

Owning a pet, if it is a bird, a cat, a dog or maybe even a gold fish can be a rewarding and exciting experience. Pets can bring you much love and joy and they can be great company for you, and also a great learning process for children learning how to look after their own pet. But it’s critical that you know the way to look after your pet, which is where pet care tips can come in extremely helpful.

It does not matter what sort of animal that you own, they all need care and love to some degree, however some animals can be barely less complicated to care for than others. If you have got a goldfish, then here are some vital pet care tips for taking care of your fish in order that it has a contented and active life :

Always ensure that you have a tank or a bowl that is suitably big for your fish. If you’ve got more than one fish, then you’ll need a larger bowl. And don’t forget, fish grow just like any other animal so when they become too large you should get them a bigger living environment.

A vital pet care tip when it comes to fish and goldfish is that you should never over feed them. Fish are not like us, they do not know when they’re hungry and may continue to eat even if you give them too much. Attempt to feed your fish around 2 times each day and only drizzle a finger full of food on top of the water this is lots for a goldfish.

Another vital pet care tip for goldfish is to always keep the tank or bowl clean. Scum can build up on the glass and the water can get truly unclean, so it is very important that you clean your goldfish bowl at least one time a week.

Remember fish are not the same as cats and dogs and other pets, they shouldn’t be handled as they’re cold blooded animals and the heat from your hands can finish up slaughtering them. Here are some vital pet care tips that you should remember when it comes to caring for a new pussy-cat or kitten :

Cats and kittens require lots of attention and taking care of, that claimed a cat can be pretty self enough and will spend a lot of time going out on his own. It is important that you make sure your pussy-cat is well sorted, ensure that he’s got a collar with and ID tag on it in case he gets lost.

A vital pet care tip to remember is that cats need check ups just like me and you, so you should ensure you take your pussy to see a vet continually for injections to protect against illness when they’re out and about. If you know what you can do the best brand of dog food to be found by reading the labels.
I wish it was so easy, but the misleading wording of the dog food makes it a little harder.
If you are looking for a healthy diet for humans the task seems pretty simple, but when checking for the best dog food brands the task is very daunting and certainly the facts are unclear and confusing.
The problem is the pet food plant ingredients may be labeled unfit for human consumption in their products. Not only can they rubbish left by-product use, they may call it healthy-sounding names.
Most people would think if you read the material dried egg product in their dog food label, that would be a healthy ingredient. The truth is often of animal parts considered unacceptable for human consumption covers.
In my research into the best dog food brands, I found a list of 68 ingredients, such as the aforementioned, as on your dog food label, you should immediately stop feeding your dog. 28 of these 68 are actually deadly ingredients, and why they will not kill your dog today, they will significantly shorten its life.
We also read and reviewed a written report dog based on the results of the test agent in a company looking for the best American dog food. I am not allowed to print this report, since it is copyrighted. After analyzing the
know most commercially made dog food in North America, they found only nine who were healthy enough to be on the list. Making

Some of the best name brands in dog on the list of 27 brands considered, but not the final list. Product brands such as Iams, Science Diet and Eukanuba were not included in the list.
This is a second report complements so there’s six brands came from the cut list with the reason stated.
Each brand in the report is a reason why it is healthy or not.
From what I learned about commercial dog food during my research I now feed our two dogs a homemade diet, but there are times you just have to be able to eat pour out a bag I personally do not risk to health of my best friends, because I’m too lazy to cook or eat, or at least buy them one of the healthiest, best dog food brands I can find.
Michael Considine is determined to help all pet owners with information on the dangers of commercially made dog food.
